FIELD TRIP INFORMATION, WEDNESDAY APRIL 17, 2019

As part of the Southwest Valley Flood Reduction Project, AMAFCA, Bernalillo County and the US Army Corps of Engineers teamed up to provide drainage infrastructure and flooding relief for tens of thousands of homeowners in the South Valley area of Albuquerque. Raven Pond is part of the Pond 187 complex of facilities that provides an off-line detention system for stormwater runoff from an area. The project consisted of a diversion structure to take flow from an irrigation drain, that functions as a storm water conveyance, to the Laguna de Cuervo Pond, thru the Raven Pond and back to the drain with a substantially reduced peak. The total project was constructed in 5 different projects and totaled $4 Million dollars.
