L0273 Managing Floodplain Development through the NFIP

About this event

This course is designed to provide an organized training opportunity for local officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinances. The course will focus on the NFIP and concepts of floodplain management, maps and studies, ordinance administration, and the relationship between floodplain management and flood insurance.

TO REGISTER FOR THE COURSE:

1. Submit a General Admission Application using the NETC Online Admissions Application (previously FEMA Form 119-25-1). Access the application directly by clicking Register Now on the right and follow the application prompts. Note: the current version of the online admissions application is not compatible with mobile devices. The Invitation Code for this course is: PFFOG.

2. Throughout the application process, it will ask you for contact information such as address, phone numbers, email, and information about your current job, work experience, etc. Please be prepared to move through these questions – if you sit on one page too long, it will time out and you’ll have to start again.

3. At the page where it asks for attachments – you do not need to upload any attachments.

4. At the page where it asks for Application Endorsements – you will provide my information. This will allow me to approve the registration, keep track of registrations, and send follow up emails.

Head of Organization Name: Heath Dobrovolny
Head of Organization Title: State Hazard Mitigation Officer & State Floodplain Coordinator
Head of Organization Email: heath.dobrovolny@dhsem.nm.gov

5. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email stating that I will provide approval. Once I have given approval, you will receive a second confirmation email stating you are enrolled.

To obtain a FEMA Student Identification (SID) number:

1. Follow the prompt on the NETC Online Admissions Application page, which will bring you to the FEMA Student Identification System.

2. You will be asked typical questions for setting up an online ID – contact information, password, security questions, etc.

3. You will receive your SID number immediately online and will receive an email confirmation. You should save this number in a secure location.

4. Go back and enter the SID number on your Admissions Application. Applications will not be processed without the FEMA SID.

Please Note: There is no cost for the class, however; each community is responsible for their own lodging, meals, and travel expenses. If you have any questions or issues with registering, please contact heath.dobrovolny@dhsem.nm.gov
